I have PhD in Electrical Engineer. I have both academic and industrial. Now I am thinking about switching to finance. I think that many corporate could use my technical experience in engineering in evaluating companies and their stocks with respect to their product. But I do not know how to start the search.

Why dont you try getting a Masters in Financial Engineering. A number of universities offer it. With your educatoion already it shouldnt take much. And it should be a good transition. You might also consider taking the Chartered Financial Analyst exam.

Corporations are rigid when it comes to experimentation like trying an electrical engineer for finance positions. It rarely happens.
The starting point for you would be security analysis companies. Ameritrade, e trade, Schwab, and big banks involved in securities would be interested in your type of background.

Suggest that you analyze a few companies based on your electrical engineering knowledge and transform that to security analysis. You need to show a compelling reason as to why your analysis is any better in the long run. Derivatives( options), bonds and foreign currency markets constantly look for analysts who can come up with a better system of analysis. If you can write a white paper on that and attach it to your introductory letter to various companies similar to a few I have mentioned, you may have a better reception.
Good luck.
