What countries are hotter than 115 degrees F??

Those other places you are thinking of probably don't have many old people, which are usually the victims of heat waves. Life expectancy is likely much lower in say Morocco or Libya.

I'm not sure that is true. The last numbers I hear of (in two different days, though) were 38 dead in the US and 20 something in Europe. If you look at a globe or map, you will see that almost all of Europe and the former Soviet Union (wow, I've had this globe since 1971, should I get a new one?) is North of the 40th parallel, which is roughly the latitude of Pennsylvania. That means that Europe is more to the North than the US which is one factor.

PS: California and the Southern most states are roughly in the same latitude as countries (I hope they still exist, hey, I just found a nickel inside my globe) as Lybia, Egypt, Iraq and Iran. What do you think is the rate of unreported deaths related to exposure there?

Like where? People die from heat everywhere, it's just not reported on as much in America as American deaths are.

americans don't know how to deal with the heat. also, an americans reaction is to reach for beer, or soda when its hot instead of water. americans in general are very dehydrated (you should drink half of your weight in ounces each day. ex: if you weigh 180lbs you should drink 90 ounces of water each day.) it is because of this that americans are more affected by the heat.

It's what people are used to. If Alaska had the same temperatures and humidity as Florida the people would suffer and possibly die. Like everything else.....it's relative.
