I arrived at the same answer as YEAH!!!, but I did it by multiplying by the inverse number; instead of dividing, multiply -5/6 x 12/7. This produced -60/42, which is -1 18/42, reduced to -1 3/7.

The KEY with dividing fractions is to flip the one you're dividing by upside down, and then multiply.

So flipping 7/12 upside-down gives us 12/7. Now we'd multiply -5/6 by 12/7. To solve this one, just remember that to fractions, you simply multiply the numerators together to get your new numerator, and multiply the two denominators together to get your new denominator.

Multiplying -5 by 12 gives us -60, and multiplying 6 by 7 gives us 42, so our final answer would be -60/42.

And because both are divisible by 6, you could reduce this down to -10/7.

-5/6 / 7/12 = -5/6 * 12/7
= -5*12/6*7
= -5*2*6/7*6
= -5*2/7
= -10/7, or if you reduce = -1 and 3/7

do you mean (-5/6) / (7/12)

if you are dividing a fraction...just flip the bottom number (denominator) over and multiply them...

-5/6 (times) 12/7

*=multiply

-5*12=-60
6*7=42

answer is -60/42....simplify and you get -10/7 or
-1 and 3/7 or
-1.4286
