A true democracy has NEVER existed. A true democracy everyone from childhood to death, free and convict get a say in EVERY issue. This doesn't even work in civic organization such as 4-H where there is still a governing council to make the mondane decisions that the average person just doesn't care about.

Then you have to factor in there are issues that society as a whole can't know about because those who are enemies would exploit the information.

By the way we are a Federal Republic. A Federal Republic is a system with divided and diffused power. Each level has their own power and own responsibility

as an 'ideal', it's getting a little beaten up. but the idea that the worlds established democracies are 'growing cold' is rediculous. next time you ask a question like this explain a little more background! if nuclear weapons go off and the world goes modtly uninhabitable, then democratic governments may move down autocratic paths, who can say. are you really suggesting that we all begin to think about those possible futures vis-a-vis the current US administrations failures?

Who said Democracy was ever alive? I mean true democracy is non-existent, that is no way to rule a sovereign country. You cant make everyone happy, that is why America is a Republic.
