UR question reminded me of a t-shirt I saw on Jinx.
"Everytime U download music off the Internet, God kills a Kitten"!
Somewhere B4 U download the site will ask 4 a fee, if 1 is needed. I'm not sure if U can Steal from the Internet!
I download pictures, re-name as Jpeg, I've not experienced any problems, so far.
But I'm sad, I pay 4 my Music. Always a CD, coz the Artist would get no reward 4 his blood/sweat/tears.
If I "stole" it, would they seriously consider making anymore albums?
So I guess in some instances, it's illegal.

No. There are games that are available to download for free. However, if you are talking about some of the larger more sophisticated games (e.g. the Sims), downloading them is illegal. The website where the game is located should indicate if it is freeware or not.
