a better question would be:
Why do so many people want to discriminate against single young mothers?
Yes of course they should get all the same benefits as any other mum.
If you want to remove this bonus from single mums or young mums then please remove it from everyone....
How about we take the baby bonus and apply all of that money to training health professionals and educational professionals to cope with all the new kids that the baby bonus here in Australia has created.

What the hell is chimp talking about? Anyway, no. There should be no benefit to universally recognized immoral behavior. Yeah, jump my case, but there is no refuting that kids are better of with two parents.
EDIT: If we aren't here to try and make our world more ideal, then what are we doing? Playing by the standards of the lowest common denominator? Good luck keeping a country going with that idea. By your same argument, a poor guy should be able to commit burglary because he needs the money. Pardon me, I have convictions and being an unwed mother doesn't fit them. No apologies for it, either.

The baby bonus? You mean EIC? If you didn't earn enough, you don't get anything and if you earn too much you don't get anything. And if you do get something it's dependent on how much you earned. And it's not just available to single mothers. It's available to anyone who is trying to survive on a limited income. The more dependents you have, the more you get back.

Yes, single mothers should getthe baby bonus, it is for the babies. They also should get child support from the father.

I think there should be a tax penalty for having babies. We have too many people in this country, and we keep rewarding low-income, lowly-educated low-lifes for spreading their legs. Make people pay for their actions instead of making the successful among us pay for these dregs of society.
