Catcher - M. Barrett Respectable catcher, better hitter than with glove.

1st Baseman - Derek Lee took over as starter a couple years ago. He's out with an injury now. Lee is a fluke or a steroid user so don't expect him to be starter for long. Todd Walker is filling in while Lee is on DL.

2nd Baseman = Todd Walker is the normal starting SB. Got the job when Grudzi got hurt and then left as a free agent. Good bat for a 2b, sure hands, not alot of range though.

3rd Baseman - Aramis Ramirez holds down third. Great bat, a little streaky as a hitter, solid glove. Ramirez is coming into his prime as a hitter though and I think you are going to see at least one MVP season of this guy in the next few years.

Shortstop- Cedeno is occupying the spot at the moment. That might change in the next few weeks though Nefi Perez is not exactly pushing him out of job.

Left Fielder - Murton is the new LF. If he can develop either power or speed he'll prob hang on to the job. The Cubs are high on him and he's doing respectably but not impressively so far this year.

Center Fielder - Pierre is the CF. Good live bat, great speed, usually one of the top 3 in the leage in SBs. Not really sure about his defensive ability. Never seen him play.

Right Fielder - 31 yr old Jaque Jones who plays like he's 39 not 31 lumbers out in Right this season. For two years for the Twins he was a good solid outfielder. Steadily declining seasons since means he probably won't be starting for anybody next year. Been 3 years since his last good season. That is a mighty long slump.

Starting pitching.
Kerry Wood and Mark Prior hold honorary titles here. They even get to start a few games each year before going back on the DL. The real rotation is.

1. C. Zambrano - More of a 2 or 3 kind of guy than a staff ace. Zambrino is a good solid pitcher. Consistant and keeps his ERA down even pitching half his games in Wrigley. Not an easy accomplishment.

2. G. Maddux - Certain hall of famer finishing off his career which started as a Cub. Showing steady decline right now but still a good innings eating workhorse. This might be his last year though.

3-5 Whoever they can drag kicking and screaming into the rotation. Wade Miller if he can come back from surgery will likely be at least a good innings eating workhorse.

Closer - This years winner of the Closer job is Ryan Dempster. Despite an ugly ERA Dempster did a good job last year for the Cubs. This year might see him back in middle relief as it's been a really bad year for Dempster. Few closers get the luxory of having a bad year and keeping thier job.

You'll find the depth chart here. Somebody before me posted the roster link which wasn't going to help much.
