look, u probably wont find this answer helpful but PLEASE read it... i dont think legally stopping her is the answer, thats just gonna make her hate you, if you think that this 19 year old girl is a bad influence on her then u should talk to her about it, if she's not a bad influence then u should let her move in and TRUST that ur daughter is a good kid and wont do anything stupid and let her know that she's welcome to move back in any time she wants to, and also let her know that she can always call you if anything wrong happens. believe me the last thing u want to do is force her into anything, coz if u do she'll probably do bad things behind your back inspite of you.

Most of the answers here assume that the law is black and white .... it isn't !!!
Although the statutes may state that you can stop her and perhaps prosecute the 19 year old, the truth of the matter is that no prosecutor is going to waste the resources or the time to pursue this type of case. If he did, the Court will most likely dismiss the Matter because your daughter is close enough to 18 that she does have some rights to self determination.
You may not like it but you have to turn loose; either now and still have a relationship with your daughter ... or when she turns 18 and tells you to go F yourself for interfering in her life.
As for prosecuting the friend, again it isn't likely to happen. The suggestion that you threaten the friend with prosecution most likely is a crime and could lead to your arrest and imprisonment.
You might also consider that any such attempt to interfere could result in allegations being made to certain State Agencies and again you lose ... by the time you disprove those alegations, your daughter has been removes from your home and placed in "foster Care". Since she is 17, she will have a great deal of say in that process, and may well be legally placed with the friend by that Agency ... you will also be ordered to pay the costs of her living expenses during that time. Typically those types of cases take upwards of 3 to 5 years to dispose of.
My suggestion is to talk with your daughter as if she was an adult, and respect whatever decission she makes.

Legally yes with only a family but not with out side family. Legally she has to be 18 to make her choose want she wants to do. I would put a stop on that a.s.a.p.
Do you know who this 19 years old person? What kind of back ground do you know about this person?
A 19 years old can be charge with kid napping under the age of 18 years old. The 19 years old is a minner adult your 17 years old is not a minner adult until she turns 18 years old. Would be a different story if she was to move in with a family.

Yes you can stop her. The SC law regarding 17 year olds is often misunderstood. You have a right as a parent under the law to maintain control over your minor children. UNDER 18.
The old "if she wants to leave-she can-but you must let her come back" Is wrong. Read the law, ask a good cop. You will see.

Yes you can legally stop her. If she moves you can call the police and report her as a runaway. Unless she is emancipated she can't move out without your permission. You need to talk to your daughter and make sure she understands why you are doing this.

Check the state that you live in.I am pretty sure every state is the same a child under 18 can not do that without your permission. You are still responsible for any damages she might do to anything.Once she is 18 she can do what she wants.Good Luck!

Yes she is under the age of 18. And if other girl tries to help her move or hide from you she would be in trouble because of your daughters age

Until she is 18 you have the control but if she just decides to leave against your will it could get ugly because the authorities will be getting involved.
