I am only trained in animal first aid,so I gave the dog CPR.I saved the dogs life.
here was 20 people standing around .At least one of them could have given first aid to the boy.unfortunatly the boy passed away.

Yes you were wrong. I am also trained in animal CPR. One thing they tell you is that the same principal applies to people. CPR is done the same way on animal as people except you do chest compressions faster on animals. IDIOT
I am also a girl scout leader, so naturally I am trained in Adult Child and Infant CPR.

This could be good and bad.

Bad- If you were first on the scene and you went straight to the dog and not the kid. I would think in any emergency case, one would totally forget about the canine, and worry about the child. What's more important, the life of man's best friend, or the man himself?

Good - If you were not the first on the scene and you saw and thought that the boy was taken care of and the dog was all by its lonesome. In that case, I could see what you did as being right.

But, with your knowledge in CPR with an animal, one would think that you could have improvise and with the skills you know, you would have tried to save the child's life. In the end, you did save the dog, so at least feel you saved something.

NO! you were not wrong at all, and im pretty mad at that person who said you were, but that is his/her opinion. As someone else said you could easily have made the boys injury worse, and there were many other people standing aroudn who did nothing. And who says a humans life is more importand than a animals??? I sure dont, they are equally important in my book, sure I would save a family member or friend before a pet if i could, but you only had the skills to save the animal, and im sure someone in that crowd could have saved the boy. I hope you dont worry about this too much, and I would suggest talking to people about it, you never know you may find someone who went through a similar situation.

Since you don't know first aid for humans, it isn't your fault. You may have actually made the boy's injuries worse by preforming it incorrectly and causing him more pain. You did what you could in the situation and atleast you re-acted! I would tell those other 20 angry people that they could have gotten off their bums and done it if they knew how and let them know that you don't know how to do it on people, just animals. I am sorry for the tragedy that happend and the reaction you are receiving. You did a good thing either way.

Well, you could have applied the principles of animal CPR to the boy... but, if there was 20 other people watching, some one should have joined in the effort. But this sounds to unplausable to possible, so I dont believe this happened.

you reacted that way cause you knew how to give CPR to animals. It wasnt your fault! Why dont you learn how to give CPR to people? itll make you feel better cause now if something happens you will be able to say a person just like you saved that dog. And i mean, at least you did something!

Yes, I would have attempted to save the boys life first, if no one else around would try. However, what's done is done. Now go out and learn human cpr...

You did what you had training to do,you were right
If you had given the boy CPR and he died anyway
maybe you would have been sued by his
parents.
I know it was a terrible experience for
you. I'm sorry.

You did nothing wrong. You did what you knew how. You could of been standing there doing nothing, but decided to do something. I suggest you get some counseling before you let this issue get to you. But i believe you did nothing wrong.
