I'll be the first Republican on Yahoo to criticise oil companies.
Yes, I'm a Republican, but no I'm not Bush's #1 fan. And I do think it's bogus these oil companies are turning record profits. A lot of cons agree with me, but the second we admit ANY wealthy people are wrong, we get blasted for supporting them.
That's right. I disagree with Bush on a lot of things. But I'm too scared to admit them on here, because it just gives Democrats rocks to throw at me. I complain about anything, I get ten people saying "ha ha! you deserve it!" I mean come on.
How many Republicans know what I mean?

I have no problem with oil co profits. The market is set by open trading, not them. They happen to be benefiting from prices right now. Was anyone out there saying we should bail out the oil companies when was oil was $25/bbl? No, so you can't (well you shouldn't) start punishing them now because it's going their way.

It doesn't bother me you are Republican who is critical of Bush. At least you can state it with some degree of intelligence. More than can be said for the Dems on here who are so fond of dedicating most of their day to bashing him.

Democrats and Republicans have become so polarized over the last 10-15 years. Back in the '80s, lots of democrats voted for Reagan. In the 90s, many Republicans voted for Clinton. Today, however, the Democrats have a serious problem with President Bush, and look for any attempt at Republican disloyalty as proof that the GOP is falling apart and will lose control of Congress and the Presidency in the next two years.

I personally believe President Bush is a below average president. But half the presidents are below average, so it's not necessarily a bad thing. As a Republican, I agree with him on a lot, and disagree with him on a few things, but I think his leadership style is very weak. John Dean, the Whitehouse counsel in the Nixon administration, just published a book criticizing the president and his style from a Republican point of view, and I am anxious to get it - but I don't remember what the title is.

Yes, even though I am Republican, my politics and ethics are middle of the road, sometimes almost liberal. And no, I feel sorry for Bush, don't care for him that much, and yes, I believe we are getting the oil shaft from the companies. However, a lot of the democrats are weak on defense and not very strong willed people.

i see myself as an independent. however, if you don't vote by party your vote means nothing. it was on the news the other day that the off shore oil rigs are subsidized by the government. there used to be a clause in the agreements that said when the original costs were recovered the PUBLIC was supposed to get rebates. well guess what, some one in our government decided to leave it out the last time. so now we see the major oil companies profits going up 30% or more. billions of dollars more than last year, which was a record profit year for them. SO I SAY TO YOU ---- WHO RUNS OUR GOVERNMENT I DON"T KNOW. they seem to give themselves raises, but they really don't seem to care about the people who put them there.

I know free markets and capitalism is a wonderful thing. If you want to blame anyone for oil company profits you should speak with the Chinese and India. If they would revert back to third world countries your gas prices might go down. Of course, my oil company stocks are making me rich!

Edit
Just ignore chimp. I think he's drinking oil.

I am Republican, and I am for Pres. Bush and the economy, therefore it does not bother me that the oil companies make money.
