I'm my first trimester of pregnancy and am gaining a lot of weight and feel sooo bad about it! :-( I feel very hungry at times and sometimes feel sooo tired I don't feel like working out for more than 30 minutes...any suggestions??

Being hungry is a good sign of a healthy pregnancy! Just stay away from carbs. And fast food. Eat lots of fruit, vegetables, lean cooked meats. I will eat chicken sandwiches on multi-grain bread, with a slice of tomato and green-leaf lettuce. Big sandwich, very healthy.

Also, drink plenty of water. Hydration is a key thing in pregnancy, as your body digests food slower, it helps keep the pace. Dehydration does create a lot of problems in pregnancy, such as constipation & hemorrhoids, cramping, etc.

I gained 60 lbs in my daughter's pregnancy, thanks to Burger King. I lost a lot of weight last year, after learning the fundamentals of the South Beach diet. Little carbs, plenty of fresh food.

Now, pregnant with twins - exercise is pretty much out of the question. I do some light swimming with the kids. But, this is the first pregnancy that I've ever had that my doc has actually told me that my weight is good. And I eat 6 times a day with barely any exercise. It's because I'm sticking to fresh veggies, fruits, and laying off the white bread carbs.

Diarrhea can contribute to hemorrhoid formation because the bowel undergoes pressure strains due to the condition. Undue pressure on the veins that make up internal hemorrhoidal structures can worsen existing damage. Internal hemorrhoids are not visible, unless they proplapse (protrude) from the anus, either constantly or during a bowel movement. If this is the case, then you have a grade III or IV internal hemorrhoid. If the protrusion is on the anal verge or the area surrounding the anus, then its likely an external hemorrhoid. Reducing pressure from issues of diarrhea and constipation will help. Not straining during a bowel movement, not lifting heavy objects, not sitting for extended periods, all will help.

An external hemorrhoid is simply a vein located at the anal verge, the wall of which as weakened and protruded. Don't push on it, this will only increase pressure and worsen it. The body has to repair the vein wall and rebuild the integrity. This takes time, perhaps weeks, if all goes well. Use sitz baths and over-the-counter medications such as pads or creams to provide symptom relief in the interim. These won't solve the issue long term, but will give the tissue a better chance at self-healing.

Internal hemorrhoids are a different matter and require more intervention. Your best bet is to educate yourself about the condition, its causes and what options there are to treat it both short and long term. Don't ignore it though, hemorrhoids tend to become chronic in nature, lasting years or decades in some cases.

Basically the whole rule about eating during your pregnancy is to eat half as much twice as often, it adds up to the same amount you normally would eat assuming, normally you eat 3 meals a day. Eating this way also helps morning sickness if you ever get any. It's also a good idea to have small snacks in between meals if you notice yourself eating more than usual. Overall the weight you gain is not an issue as long as you're willing to work it off after the delivery . . . after you recover.

Just EAT. The first trimester, I literally did nothing but eat, sleep, and cry. I was miserable. My weight gain slowed down after about 14 weeks. After that, your body and hormones will stabilize. You will still eat a little more than usual, but if you are in a healthy weight range, 25-35 pounds is average, and healthy. If you are overweight, talk to your ob/gyn about controlling weight gain. Make healthy choices-remember that this isn't an excuse to eat a pint of ice cream in a sitting-and you will be fine. I ate reasonably-healthy about 80% of the time-exercised when I had the time (I worked a lot) and only gained 19 pounds. I dropped ALL of it within 6 weeks of giving birth. Good luck!

Go with what your body is telling you. If you are sleepy then sleep if you are hungry then eat. If you are worried about weight gain when you eat go for healthy foods like fruit and yogurt. Your body is doing so much work changing to become a Mum that you use up a lot of energy without realising it. What I did was simple I figured that I'm only pregnant for a short time really and if I want to eat I will and I am going to enjoy being able to feed up because once bubs comes you are so busy running around that you'll lose it again, especially if you breastfeed.

I know how you feel! I was so hungry to the point I'd wake up at 3am to make a sandwich. During the day If I felt like eating I'd start reading a book to get my mind off food. If I felt motivated enough I'd go for a nice leisurely walk... You don't have to work up at sweat just go for a walk to get a bit of fresh air :)

BUT! Don't feel bad for eating more than usual, this is normal! It is also good for your baby! You will loose the weight after you give birth, especially if you breast feed your baby.

Honey don't sweat it!! I am also in my first trimester and all I think about is eating...and I am worried about gaining too much weight too.
What I do is try and not eat so much at breakfast lunch and dinner and have various HEALTHY snacks through out the day. Apples with peanut butter seems to be my choice right now...But it has seemed to help with some of my nausea and It has made it so that I don't eat so much at normal meal times and I am still getting my same intake on calories and such...
After you have the baby then worry about the weight and losing it. But for now just eat, healthy of course.

You can't really control the hunger unless you eat. The best way to help with the weight gain is to be selective about what you eat, fruits, veggies, complex carbs, stay away from empty calories (meaning food that is loaded with calories but won't fill your hunger, at least not for long).

I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels this way. I suddenly feel like my life is being ruled by the need for food, and I've never been like that. If I don't eat, I feel nauseous and get migraines, so eat I must. I am going to be a beached whale by the time I'm done. A friend did tell me though that the eating tapers down.
