My friends daughter got her belly button pierced. Shortly thereafter she developed a virus in her heart. She was ill for several months and eventually her heart function deteriorated prior to being able to give her a transplant- she died. Her doctors believe she contracted the virus from the piercing.

Hello there,

Getting your naval peirced isn't so bad. Just remember: Wash your hands and clean your peirced naval often, quite frequently (even after it heals) with an antibacterial soap and water to prevent an infection. As for the event of getting it done, it's only a pinch (from my experience). It only takes a few days to heal. After it heals, when you decide to change the ring, make sure you wipe the ring with rubbing alcohol. When choosing the place to get it done, wether its peircing or tatooing make it's proffessional and the proper equipment comes right out the package.

Good luck & have fun!!

Like any piercing or tattoo, if the needle used has been used on someone else, there is a chance you could get HIV which can lead to AIDS resulting in death. So make sure you go to a professional who uses sterile instruments. I do not have my navel pierced (and have no dersire to) so sorry I can't tell you if it hurt or how long the healing process is.

The pain isn't bad. But if it gets infected & stays infected, no matter how much time you waste with sea salt on it, it's bad!! The piercing didn't hurt but taking it out after being infected for 6 weeks hurt like HE-L-L!!

a professional peircing place should be able to tell you all this. go to them and just ask questions before decding. if they can't answer all (or most) of them then you shouldn't be going there in the first place. good luck!
