What is the real difference between war and terrorism besides that a war has been sanctioned by the politicians of a particular government? Which kills more babies, mothers, fathers and grandparents? Don't both demonize their enemies? Don't Christians, Moslems and Jews all claim to honor the God who gave the aten commandments? Isn't one of the ten commandments"Thou shall not kill"? Are there exceptions for people you don't like or that your leader says are dangerous? If you kill someone for killing, doesn't that make you a killer? Why isn't it considered blesphamy to kill in God's name?

Don't mean to rant, I'd really like to know what you think about this.

Yes, I agree it is hypocrisy of the highest order. Terrorism is a very subjective term and it depends on which side you're on as to who the terrorist is.

Personally, I think the US is a big terrorist by invading foreign, sovereign nations against the wishes of the UN and the majority of the Western World.

Israel is another big bully and any retaliation for its bullying tactics by Palestine, Lebanon or Syria are called terrorism but Israel is supported by the US as the moderate, when in actual fact this is far from the case. Witness Israel's heavy handed response to the present conflict with Lebanon.

Religion just clouds the issue even further. However the 10 commandments transcend religion and if our leaders took more notice of them the World would be a much better place, religion or not.

I'm afraid until we get a completely new breed of leader and the likes of Bush, Blair and Howard are consigned to the rubbish bin where they belong, nothing will ever change.

Difference Between War And Terrorism

There are supposed to be reasons for wars other than just the purpose of killing. The focus of a war is to accomplish a resolution, therefore they are openly declared. Innocent civilian casualties are never the target of wars.
Terrorism is the production of fear upon the general mass population to publicise its cause. That is its only aim. Anybody can be a deliberate target of terrorism no matter how uninvolved they are.
However I totally agree with you on religious war and terrorism, it’s absolutely bizarre. Their religions should be teaching them to live better more respectful lives but instead they choose to harm others. Even more peculiar to me are conflicts between different sects of the same religion for example, Protestants and Catholics and also Sunnis and Shi’ites. I’m sure there are countless examples. I think it is just a reflection on true human nature – barbaric.

It is not the religions causing the wars, it is the leaders that cannot co-exist. They take advantage of a poor, uneducated people and use them for their own means and just tell these people who know no better that they are doing gods work. If these people could just be educated on a better way of life, maybe that would solve some problems.

you're right. war is gov't sponsored terrorism. the only difference is the uniform. Terrorists are just using the only means at their disposal to fight. Killing is killing. War never solves anything, and niether does terrorism.

no difference, however according to the just war doctrine, taking of life may be justified when u or ur family is threatened. killing because u want the oil or hate the regime is wrong. also, when it says thou shalt not kill, it means thou shout not inflict bodily harm on another. in the old testament, god called his people to arms to protect their existance. i weep whenever a person dies, but i know that sometimes it is nesessary, and i hope i never have to take and innocent life. god bless you.

thou shalt not kill unless you are , 1. One of God's chosen people then you can kill 10 for every 1 of yours that got killed. 2. Unless you are fighting a war where everyone on your side is called a soldier and everyone on their side is a terrorist. 3. Unless you are flying very sophisticated aircraft that has missiles that are very accurate and powerful which means that they definitely will kill more than one person whether they be civilian or terrorist. So thou shalt not kill, if you are Hezbollah you will not pass heaven you will go directly to hell!

War is mass murder made legal by the society, in the societies interest.

Terrorism is mass murder perpetrated by a few in the society, in the interest of other society.

They are both wrong. They should both be understood fully without bias, only then can we avoid the madness.

There is no difference. They're both a waste of time. Innocent people die no matter what.
