I'm not sure why people are answering this question in such an asinine way. Being overweight won't PREVENT you from getting pregnant, but it can be a hinderance (for some reason it lowers fertility but I can't remember why). It also makes the pregnancy more high risk and can lead to pregnancy induced hypertension (which may result in a preemie baby) and overall make you uncomfortable during and the recovery more difficult after. I reccommend talking with your doctor before you become pregnant to see if it would be a high risk pregnancy. He may also be able to tell you the best way to lose the weight. Good luck!

It can make it more difficult, because being overweight can affect the menstrual cycle and ovulation. However, that does not mean that all women who are over weight will have trouble getting pregnant, just that it is a possibility.

No! Obesity does not reduce female fertility! No connection.

Except that the odds of getting SICK during pregnancy, having birth complications and post-pregnancy diabetes are higher.

The odds of a miscarriage may be higher, too, I'm not sure about that.

It could affect your fertility. Estrogen is stored in fat, and since larger women have more fat, they're storing estrogen and can have irregular menstrual cycles and not ovulate. (Sort of like taking the pill...your giving your body extra estrogen via the b/c pill, and it forces your body not to ovulate. Since you have extra estrogen stored in your fat, your body won't ovulate.)

This being said...if you have regular menstrual cycles, there really should be no reason for you to not be able to conceive or carry a baby (barring any other medical conditions).

no!!! where did u get this idea from??

the baby develops in the female's uterus and all females have a uterus so other than the female reproductive system, nothing has to do with getting pregnant, including being fat!!!

actually, it might be better, u'll keep the child warmer and therefore more comfortable :p

While it is considered more difficult for an overweight woman to concieve (because weight effects menstration and ovulation) it is certainly not impossible. I know plenty of overweight women who had children.

No, not unless the extra weight is causing you to have a health problem that would prevent pregnancy.
