1. James Taylor - You've Got a Friend - This was played at my aunts funeral 20 years ago and to this day, when I hear it I start to weep.

2 - Other End of the Telescope - Elvis Costello (also done by Amiee Mann) - I cried to this song for weeks when my boyfriend and I split up. We got back together several months later, but still, a few years later, every time I hear this song I cry a little.

3 - All This Useless Beauty - Elvis Costello - See notes for #2 song. This was right along with that one.

4. - Aaron Nevill - Song for Bernadette (also sung by Linda Ronstat and by Jennifer Warnes) - Just a sad sounding song. Aaron Nevill and Jennifer Warnes do the best jobsn with it

5. - Where've You Been - Kathy Mattea - This song was popular when my grandfather was suffering from Alzheimers. It is about an older couple and memory loss...very touching and hard to sit through for me.

6 - Famous Blue Raincoat - Jennifer Warnes - conjurs up a sad image in my mind.

7 - Amazing Grace - when performed by a bluegrass band or by a single fiddle player.

The Saddest Song by Streetlight Manifesto. No just kidding that's actually not that sad. I'm gonna have to agree with the Brookinator and say I will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab

one from a long time ago, I think it was Kathy Mattea who sang it?
Anyway, it was called "Where've You Been", or words to that effect.

Even more poignant now, as my parents are getting up there in years. Can't imagine how one will live when the other one dies.

Also, Fire & Rain by James Taylor. I was widowed at a very young age; my husband went out one day to go hunting & never came back. Eight months later his remains were found. I remained in denial the entire time, certain I'd see him again!!!
That was many years ago, but that song can still reduce me to a blubbering puddle.

the butterfly song by wheezer.
i played this song for the one true love of my life before she had to go away, and true to the song, i messed it all up and will always regret it.

"I'm sorry for what i did, i did what my body told me to i didn't mean to do you harm, every time i pin down one i think i want it slips away.. .. I'm sorry... I'm sorry"

If you have a broken heart, listen to this song. It's by wheezer, and i think it's on the blue album, but i could be wrong.

it reminds me of the best time in my life, while hitting me with the worst pain imaginable, at the same time.

if you have a broken heart, listen to t
