I remember reading in Time magazine years ago where there was a new prison that had been built, and before they began using it for actual inmates, the state used it as a "hotel", where people could pay for the privilege of being in jail, complete with the jumpsuit and including the option of being handcuffed. It was just for one night, and it was mostly aimed at crime prevention in youth (who went along with a parent), but that's what your question reminded me of.

I agree that it might be an interesting experience, but you probably don't want to have the arrest record, so it might not be worth it. However, if you don't care that much about your public record, I might suggest driving above the speed limit without your license until you get pulled over. My understanding is that you would be held in jail until the police can get proof of your identity, but I might be wrong. At least it would most likely be a victimless crime.

I'm not sure whether or not to wish you good luck. :-)

Nice post...it would be interesting you're certainly right about that!
And no matter what anyone says, you don't need help. I don't think there is any place that will do this unless you are a reporter. I have seen 2 reports already about this on tv. One female reporter got to go to a women's jail for I think a week and now on the show "30 days" the host will actually go to a men's prison for 30 days..so it seems that you must be a reporter and get special permission from the prison and so on. If this is too difficult, maybe you can make a nice business out of this...open up your own jail and I bet a bunch of people will go...heck I I can be one of your first customers

Have a friend lock you in a small room, say your bedroom, with 5-10 other people. Pick the biggest one in the room to pick a fight with over what to watch on the TV. Make sure they watch you use the bathroom, and be sure that your "friend" who locked you in there doesn't answer your "calls" for a 1/2 hour, no matter how loud you are calling or what you want, and have him serve you cold food hot and hot food cold. You won't wonder anymore.
