Yes, we do it all the time.

Of course if your talking about that crap on TV or Magicians, that is an Illusion, sometimes a good trick but just a trick.

I can do the David Blane levitation trick, It makes my Grand-kids laugh and they always wonder how it's done. It is a great trick at a party, but JUST a TRICK.

A lot of people claim it is, if you are talking about somebody levitating themselves, but it violates the basic laws of physics. Some yogis and other folks big on meditation claim that their "hopping" in a sitting, crosslegged position is levitation but they are sadly mistaken. If you could levitate yourself, that would mean that you are somehow eliminating the effect of gravity. And if you could nullify gravity, you'd go spinning off into space while the Earth left you behind since it is rotating beneath you and orbiting the Sun.

Levitation is possible with the use of metallic objects and magnets though - a magnet can indeed be made to "float" above another magnet.. There has even been some success at getting ball lightning produced in the laboratory to hover about for a short while. But all these things fall well within the known laws of physics and do not involve somehow negating gravity.

On the edge of knowlege, there are theories about dark energy, dark matter, and anti-gravity. So "levitation" may someday be possible but not in the near future.

Yes. I have done experiments myself that allowed me to levitate small magnets using superconductors. Similar experiments, involving much stronger fields have been done that levitated live frogs and other small creatures. The maglev trains which were mentioned in other answers are also proof, using the same superconducting properties. In theory, if the field is big enough, even humans and other large animals could be levitated. Look it up online or on wikipedia.

Levitation of what? Of course it is! Just look at mag-lev trains. The name is derived form Magnetic Levitation. Small objects have been levitated by magnetic fields, ultrasonic waves, air pressure, and many other forms of suspension.

I think it is. ESP and telekinesis make it possible. And witchcraft. You could also go to outer space, but if you're looking for levitation on Earth, stick with ESP and telekinesis. Also science can do many things nowadays.

The magician David Blane did it. It was just some trick though.
