How do Astrologists come up with the advice they give in horoscopes?

how do they possibly determine personal issues like whether or not to date someone, whether or not to invest in stock, whether or not to ask for raise on such and such a day, etc. from studying the positions of planets and stars and such?

They use a natal chart based upon the birth date, birth place and exact time of birth of the client and a chosen prediction method, such as transits, secondary progressions (a day for a year), solar arc directions, solar returns, and lunar returns. Most Astrologers use all of them for a more compete picture of upcoming possibilities.

Based on the astrological signs and the positions of the stars for those specific signs. Each sign has a star or set of stars assigned to it. The horoscopes are then forecast based on what those stars come into contact with for the the day or month that the horoscope is being cast for. For example, if you are a Scorpio, the astrologer looks at the stars for that sign and looks at the various planets and other stars that your sign's stars will cross paths with. That's why horoscopes sometimes say "Venus is influencing you this month and .....". What that means is that your sign's stars will be crossing behind the planet of Venus and that crossing is supposed to mean that the traits associated with the planet of Venus (the traits that are also assigned with the goddess Venus) will be present in your life for a certain amount of time. Other astronomical events also have traits and events associated with them, such as eclipses (of either the sun, moon, planet crossing your path, planet associated with your sign, etc). There are several books, like The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need, that give detailed instructions on how to cast your own personal horoscope based on the position of your stars on your exact date and time of birth. It's actually a really complicated process. Even personalized horoscopes though (which can cost upwards of $100) are very vague. It's all just for fun, but some people actively look for events that correspond with their horoscope and assume that astrology "works". Check out that book though. I own it and it's a great and easy read for everything about astrology.

well its simple alot of natural traits come from signs and stars and moon the astrolgy part is all about mood swings but the triats come from the sign like a sagi is out going happy go lucky dreamer and hyper or sports oriented or a cancer is creative intelect who in some cases usses thse traits to become like a fashion desgner or a libra is stubborn and gemini confused all has to do with traits of the sign at the time of these traits it was just away to put a label on aperson onor catagories them as beong such threw many studies i am gypsy i do astrology and palm reading and imagery and dreams and read eyes any ways this is how i catgorise them when i do readings but also u have the rising sign which is the next sign that when u get older u evolve inot and the fallen sign which are your negative atributes hense the name fallen as well as which house you was born in like the tenth or the 8 has a do with your moods and would take along time to tell u how it works gypsy boy dreamscape

They claim to use star charts and such. Me, personally believe I have just as much a chance at using a Magic 8 ball and getting a believable answer.

Well the planets all have an influence on each of us and it's a little different.So by studying someone's chart and the position that the planets are in at a particular time,they are able to predict what's likly to happen to a particular person due to how the planet's energy will effect them at that time.

LOL!!! People will believe anything. Put some mystery into it by saying what you want to hear and that is that. If you listen to them they will always give ambiguous answers. You can interpret it whichever way you want.
