Hi. I'm 13 yrs old and I go to middle school. I was an immigrant from the Philippine Islands and I jsut got in the USA a year ago but now I'm a permanent resident(not an american citizen). My problem is that my classmates in my school react to me so differently and unkind. They think I'm weird and outrageously different from them. They treat me like I'm an animal whom which they can make feel bad and harrass any time. My description of my self is I'm smart, I'm an "a" student, kind and very helpful. Sometimes, they don't want to be with me, they just go near me if they want me to answer a question on our assignments. I'm really sad of this because in my former school, I'm very respected and not used as an answering robot. Sometimes I even cry when I get home. But in my first american school in California, I'm treated nicely but when I moved here in Connecticut, I'm treated as described above. Is it because I am one of the best students in our class and they are jealous?

Thank you guys!! I'll try my best not to answer them. And by the way, I think smart people in our school are treated poorly by kids but not teachers.

I'm not generally giving out answers, I'm just helping them out.

Most of the (Not all to be sure) North-easterners I have met, retired and moved down south. They treat native southerners much the same way. I feel your pain. All take and no give. Stop giving them all the answers and keep the "A" game going in your favor. As you get older it will stop.

I have met a few from this geographic location of the U.S. that are genuinely kind and gracious people. And have made some very fine friends indeed.

some times people take different as a bad thing not saying that you are a different type of person just from a different place. i think you sound like a very nice person and anyone should be happy to know you. Just do your best to show them how cool you are and try to find someone who might feel the same way you feel and you guys can lean on each other.

People are cruel wherever you are. Ignore them. It just shows how prevalent ignorance is in schools. This is the time when you find out who really is your friend. I was a fat kid, and was alone for many years. Befriend other "outcasts" or kids that get picked on. A combined force of the downtrodden is very stong. I hope this helps, from one who got picked on to another.

Easterners tend to be a little more harsh than the rest of the country. Just hold your head up and keep getting good grades. Stand up to them... don't just hand out answers to their assignments. Don't try to be friends with everybody. Even if you can find one person who is nice and likes you for you, that one good friend is better than 10 ok friends.

Personally, I don't think they are jealous. Mostly, I hate people because I dislike them, except for the popular crowd whom I hate because they are popular for no good reason. It is possible they treat you like that because you outcast yourself. If you make yourself different from your peers, they will treat you how you described.

Don't let those kids get you down. They probably are jealous of you because English is your second language and you still kick their butts in it. I wouldn't worry too much about what people think, just do what you do best and good luck to you.

theres only one way you will find out the answer to this question..when they ask you for a answer to a question..tell them to go figure it out them selfs you are feeding them. because you have a mild nature and will do any thing to help any one but do you do this to get friends so people will be nice to you? just wise up a little you are young and talented. and clever. use it for your own advantage. tell them no. you wont answer any more questions for them. and see how it goes from there.

People back in the North East are not the kindest lot in the country. They scream the loudest about racism, but they are very racist-oriented themselves.
