I would say Johan Cruyff. How Holland didn't win the World Cup in the 70's is beyond me.

They were the team of the tournament hands down in 1974, but were robbed by the Germans.

They are the best team never to have won the World Cup.

I admire Dennis Bergkamp, but to me he isn't Johan Cruyff.

For individual skill, the best footballer of all time, in my eyes, is Diego Maradona. But Johan Cruyff is a close second.

Pele scored loads of goals but doesn't come close to Maradona for me on individual skll.

But I think that if Holland would have won the World Cup in 1974, people's opinions of Johan Cruyff would have been different and he would have been placed in the top three players of all time, which is what he deserves.

Without question the best Dutch footballer of all time was Johan Cruyff, he even has a turn named after him, and what a turn. Yes Diego Maradona was gifted but there was a dark side to his game, the win at all cost aspect, cheating it is often called. I am an Englishman, so am a little biased against Maradona. Cruyff had everything that Maradona had plus a better attitude.

Read Brilliant Orange by David Winner. That will explain how Holland blew the 1974 Final and they were not robbed...their own arrogance did them in.

For individual skill, Cruyff was waaaaay better than Maradona.

I'd back you on Cruyff. Holland do produce some of the finest players in the world for a country of their size. There must be something like killer instinct lacking though as the national side just never do it. Club teams with dutch influence however do well.

I have to agree Johann Cryuff with Marco Van Basten coming a close second, Best footballer in the world ever to me was Pele. Best British player ever has to be Sir Stanley Matthews.
