This seems so foolish. Doess anyone even care about points?

If so... for goodness sake...why?

All it seems to do is prompt idiots to asnwer stupidly and harrass people.

I asked this question and it alerted me.. this question cost you 5 points...

is that suppose to bother me?

So they would rather fewer questions and more idiotic answers?

Yeah...that makes sense

Well, most of us want to help out others and in the process want a bit of a reward or self satisfaction. The point is an incentive for people like us who answers to keep on answering. Keep on keeping on.

The point is trying to make points. So don't question what the point is of getting these points is, just hurry, hurry, I said Hurry! Catch up, and then you'll have more points.
I don't have a clue why. It is quite pointless. Now, answer more questions and you'll get some more points. I hope I've helped you, or this answer would be pointless.

While I understand the "game" style feature is to entice more people to answer questions and not just ask them, there should be some sort of prizes given for reaching a level.
Nothing too fancy, mind you, but the first person to reach each level should be in a hall of fame and all the others, when they reach each level, should get a special email, perhaps with cool free links and pictures, or more smileys for their emails, or free email stationery, or something like that. It would be more encouraging, y'know.

To get to the point of unlimited answers, to be able to help out more than 60 or 80 people a day!

Looks like Yahoo will give us 'Thank You Gifts' depending on our point level. Don't know when it will be implemented, but they put it on the help page ('coming soon').

Anyway, currently the points are for '...everyone to recognize how active and helpful you've been. (And they give you another excuse to brag to your friends.)'
