Well, since the British invented the English language, I would say that they have it right.

Depends what part of the English speaking world you are in. Americans do the 'Z' thing and drop vowels and I have no idea why other than localisation. In terms of pronunciation, you cannot pronounce phoenetically (Guess which side of the pond I am from!) as if you did how would you pronounce bough (as of a tree) and through which is not spelled thru' anywhere except as an abbreviation. What about aluminum (aluminium) and other complete transpositions ir faucet/tap, trunk/boot etc. I gather it is down to mixtures of ethnicity and language evolution. Apparently the most 'correct' English in the world known as 'Received Pronunciation' is spoken on the East coast of Ireland. Did you realise that?

Depends on if you're in the USA, Canada or Britain.

I'm Canadian, so it's realize, colour, favour, etc...

When I have to write to Americans, it's realise, color, favor, etc.

There are also various terminology differences between Canada and the USA that one has to be cognizant of when writing to corporations of the two countries.

Hope that clarifies things...

PS: It's realize with a 'z' in Canada and Britain - unless you really want to take it up with Oxford Dictionary.

Personal preference, really. I think colour, theatre, etc. sound classier. So use the different spellings around different people. Sort of like how Wind Pokémon beat Earth Pokémon. Or maybe it has nothing to do with that.

You really should go back to school. Realize and color are the Americanized spelling. We've got to do things our way here!
