A rhetorical question doesn't need an answer. Everybody being asked that should already know the answer. By the way, this is a rhetorical answer.

If you read Yahoo! Answers to get your raw data I would have to say less than 3% (and that's being generous). A better answer might be "the number is equal to same percentage of people who know what an idiomatic English expression is."

from what i know rhetorical questions are the kind of questions that need no answer they are just asked as a way of reproving somebody or to make one think about something deeply if they are directly answered,it normally sound rude as the person is supposed to think and answer himself or herself inwardly

23.7% of the U.S. population and 33.87% of the world's population know the definition of "rhetorical". if this is true, what does the other 76.3% and 66.13% think rhetorical means? i dunno, i'm only the statitician.
