Well, here in NJ, people are outraged that the gas companies are gauging the prices. Anyway, it's not just exxon...
On the other hand, you could say it's just business. A business's top goal is to make $$$ and the government's in charge of making sure the people get a fair deal. A business rarely has that in mind, unless it'll affect their sales.

Are you retarded? Do you honestly believe you're the ONLY one who noticed and is upset? What are you going to do, rise up? You going to start a revolution against THE most powerful gov't on the entire planet? Sit down and shut the **** up. Unless you move away which is my next course of action, start your own trained army of a million or so heavily outfitted soldiers who hate this country enough to go to war with it, or shoot yourself in the foot. You can claim disability, and work under the table at the same time. You'd be ******* the government over right there. OR, you can mail something as media mail, but have it not actually BE media mail and pay less for the same service by the same company because they offered it and noone has the balls to defraud the gov't for fear of whatever. You people make me want to vote.

I am enraged but at connected issues such as the Bush administration promoting energy inefficiency like giving away SUVs as tax credits. And making tax concessions to those "poor" energy companies and of course the immense failure to invest and encourage development of alternative energy technology.
Profits are profits and not necessarily bad. One wonders though, how much more enriched are administration officials now than they were when they came into office. Most all are long-allied to energy companies and undoubted hold zillions of shares of energy stock Conid Rice, for exasmple, used to have an oil tanker named for her until it was determined that could make it a target so it was renamed. My guess is that the Bush years have been very good to their portfolios.
Gee, that does make me mad.

ask the gov who collects the taxes(.80 here) impose restrictions on formulas and region/formula restrictions. Imposes tremendous red tape hurdles on building refinerys(10yrs to build one). Oh yeah, between seasons when the formulas must change... availability drops... lets not forget the mid season formula changes imposed by the EPA too. Oh yeah then there's the draconian restrictions on where oil drilling can be done and lets not forget about the fact that demand for fuel continues to rise while supply barely keeps up while between the changing of formulas.

we are outraged. but what are we to do about it? We are too busy working as 2 people and only getting paid for 1, because if we don't, our job will be shipped over seas too!
Why doesn't a sniper just take out Cheney the puppet master?

I don't suppose many complainers would even try to control their "outrage" if they knew how much XOM and other producers have to pay for just one day's use of an ocean-going platform. Ignorance is bliss. If they think XOM is doing so well, and will continue to do so, why don't they invest in the stock?

Its called "Supply and Demand" people need gas and the gas companies hike up their price cuz you cant do anything about it. Most people know this and dont get upset over stuff they cant change. If your pissed off, why not sell your car and ride a bicycle around?

If you look at the cost to our planet for using all that oil, they should charge more. We don't appreciate cheap resources. If it cost twice as much, there would be a better chance of people choosing alternative fuels and smaller cars.
