While it is less likely, it is not impossible to conceive during the menstrual phase of one's cycle.
(That said, transmission of STDs is a bigger problem if you are having unprotected vaginal intercourse at any time, including on your period.)

YES it is possible. You're on your period for about five days, but the egg that's being released by your period may leave the first day, or may not leave until the last day. And if the sperm find the egg before it leaves the body, you'll be pregnant.

It is unlikely, but not impossible, for you to get pregnant during your period. You are only fertile, and therefore able to get pregnant, on a few days each cycle – the days leading up to and around the time of ovulation (when an ovary releases an egg). If, however, you have a short cycle length e.g. 20 days, you could be ovulating around Day 6 of your cycle and could, therefore, be fertile very early in your cycle even though you are still bleeding.

Actually, having sex on your period or right before it is how you get pregnant. Who told you this? Because they probably think its funny to see you pregnant. However, if you have sex on one of last days of your period there's a lesser chance you'll get pregnant. All of this is assuming that the guy you're with isn't wearing protection. If he is, its probably okay, but why take the risk?

Not all periods are periods. Some women can bleed during ovulation, some periods are irregular. Many women experience "periods" while pregnant. It is never a good idea to have unprotected sex just because you think you are on your period.

Yes you can get pregnant while on your period. The chances are low but it can still happen. Check out the Web MD article. It will clarify things.

Yes, you can. If there is an egg present you can. Sometimes the sloughing of the lining, (your period) doesn't dislodge an egg. It has happened before. Women can also still have their periods when 1st pregnant.
