PLEASE......
get onto it as fast as poss, you can also keep track of the progress of the passport by the bar code if you fill in the forms by the normal method, you can also fast track them, that will give you a guaranteed delivery date by recorded mail ( extra money) . Also remember this is probably the busiest time of year and also the Passport office are planning to put up the fees, any change in regulations slows down the process. Get it done ASAP and then hastle them by phone, just to check the forms are correct. It's amazing what they don't tell you until the last minute. I had brilliant help from a girl at Glasgow passport agency, the problem being you don't get that service over the weekends. Remember if you have to contact them take a name, that really helps if it is found out someone has made an error!! No need for panic just cutthroat efficiency and a FAB holiday!!!!!!!!! PS My PO made some really crappy mistakes, I was refunded but it nearly cost me christmas. just keep in touch with the Passport office and JUST ASK

The status for my application states: Police verification is not clear and application is under review at Regional Passport Office.

The two SMS’s I received from the passport office are as follows:

i)Police has submitted Clear report for your previous address (where I stayed for 18 months)
ii) Police has submitted Adverse report for your current address ( Where I had stayed for less than 1 year)

Upon checking with the police station, they mentioned that “because I have not been residing at the current address for more than a year”, I will get an adverse report. This despite submitting notorized copies of the following:

1) Registered Lease agreement duly notorised
2) Electricity bills
3) Signatures of neighbors and those of witnesses along with their Aadhar card copies
4) My Aadhar card copy giving my permanent address
5) Marriage Certification duly notorised
6) Old Passport copy duly notorised
7) Employment letter indicating current address
8) Bank Account with Statement indicating current address.
The police department also mentioned that this adverse report will generally NOT be a hindrance in the issue of the passport as all documents they required have been submitted and also because the previous address was “clear”.

The police department sends the hardcopy of all the documents you give to the passport office for police verification. The passport office checks the documents. Even if your police verification for the current address is adverse because of your stay in the current address for LESS than a year, but your previous address has been verified by the police and mentioned as “Clear”, YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR PASSPORT. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RE-APPLY FOR A POLICE VERIFICATION.

In the event you are required to do a police verification for some other issue pertaining to your passport, you will need to personally visit the Regional passport office personally and stand in queue to receive a form from a counter. The first 100-200 candidates will be admitted in and you will be asked to produce the relevant documents. The office is generally open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday only. So go very early in the morning and stand in queue.

My passport took less than two weeks to arrive, but I applied in January, when the demand is usually much less than during the summer. You can pay extra for a speedier service, so ring your passport office to ask for current waiting times.

As long as all your paperwork is in order you should get it by ordinary post in 3 weeks, but the post office service will make sure you have filled in everything properly and have the right documentation. Its about £5 and should make everything trouble free, you should then get your passport in 2 weeks.

Yeah its a rip off. I go back and forth in my maiden call nonetheless after 2 years of marriage because i'm no longer splashing out back for a clean passport after I have 8 years left in this one.

Your best bet is to make an appointment with your local passport office, and go and get it in person. It might cost a bit extra, but at least you'll have it! Good luck! xx

If you are in the UK get the post office(small cost for accelerated service) to check everything thru and it comes back in about 6 weeks.
