1. You don't need to tell the bosses what's in it for them, just let them know the hardhip it's gonna cause for those laid off, relocated and haggle on the best redundancy package for the former.
2. Try and get the best deal for those who's side you're on and let them know in no uncertain terms what you want. Forget shared action and commucation, they just want out with as little fuss and layout as possible.
3.Find out if old Joseph can work as sweeper up for the same salary as the managing director.
4. You can bet your life they will be!. Everyone is when it comes to money. Play your cards close to your chest and don't show your hand.
I can't help you with the basics as I don't have a clue what you're on about. B******t baffles brains, just remember that!
(Edit: ps. Oh look, Paul_1 has got the hang of the B******t or hyperbole in polite company)

Unions and management have a lot to do with socio-economics and class conflict. The description of the workshop sounds like it might be looking to build a bridge between union members and management. Or, your company is about to undergo a huge change and everyone's getting ready for the reaction.
If you're lucky, the workshop will be intelligently planned and run and things will get accomplished. Otherwise, I hope they have good coffee & donuts. Try to take notes and smile a lot!

Don't worry no else knows what it means either. When I was a shop steward we often had this kind of thing presented to us. Usually by some eager graduate fresh out of university. Most of it is jargon and doesn't mean a thing. Depending on who you want to impress just sit there quietly, look wise and every so often say something along the lines of "Yes, but how will this impact on such and such a group of employees/department" or ask them to "elucidate"(explain) that in a bit more detail and always be polite and thank them.
By the way I'm now a lecturer with, among other things, a degree in social science so I've seen both sides. Good luck.

Billy: Obviously you do study Socio-economics and are looking for someone to answer something that you need for a project or homework. If you think about your questions with the knowledge you have of the subject, you'll find that you'll get a lot more satisfaction by figuring out the answers yourself. Not only that but you'll find that you CAN do it! Now, go for it!

Christ! I replied to a Uni presentation question before, saying dont yahoo answers, your missing the point of being at uni. They were actually illiterate, but the question was identical to this in request format. However, your language is gramatically correct, paginated and, in context, coherent. Its the content that beggars belief. If you can understand this (which you cant) you'll be a head social worker, on £75,000 a year. this is a mis mash of "pc" words, stringed together, not by you, either. Being co-opted,to a workplace workshop, is communism, isnt it? Like Alexy's Sayle said, "workshops" are Only relevant, if connected to light engineering. You will be on that hitchhikers space craft, sent to earth "before" the others, who were to follow, later. (basically they got everone who talked like this, middlemen, accountants etc, and blasted em into outer space!)
Change courses quickly. your out of your depth, and i pitty anyone who's in it!

Since there are very many bases on which human equalities may be understood and upon which exploitation and oppression may be produced and reproduced, it is important to recognize that these variables are not mutually exclusive; for example in the preindustrial world religious and military strata often coexisted along with those based on gender and ethnicity.

for basics on socio -economics, but you should have been reading the text or articles.
Why not talk about all those things in terms of cell phones, or Blackberries, or iPods?
