I also had a c-section and everything went smoothly!
Try and get some rest tonight because tomorrow is going to be full of excitement!!
Try and get up walking as soon as you are able to, it will help speed up the recovery process.
Take the pain medication when they offer you it!! Do not try to just bear the pain. You will not get addicted to the meds and they will help you recover faster.
From experience I actually healed faster and was up and moving way before any of my friends that had vaginal births!
I am not advocating c-sections by choice but do not feel bad that you are having one over a "normal" one it is perfectly safe and your doctor does know best!

Is there any way you could try to have the baby vaginally?? A C-section is major abdominal surgery and should not be gone into lightly. You will have a huge incision in your abdominal region that goes through the skin, muscles, and your uterus. I've heard that it is very painful when the anesthesia wears off. I had both of my children vaginally and once the epidural kicked in it wasn't too bad. Afterward I was hardly even sore. Neither of my babies were "cone heads" either. Not to tell you what to do, but please make sure that the positives outweigh the risks before you have this kind of surgery. Oh yeah, get as much rest as you can tonight. You won't be getting an uninterrupted night of sleep again for a VERY long time. Good luck and enjoy your baby.

Are you going to be awake or asleep? I had an unplanned C-section & I had the option of choosing to be awake or asleep & I choose to be asleep because I was in SOOOOO much pain & just wanted it to be over & I didn't know if I was going to freak out to see my stomach being cut open. The only thing I regret about that is that her stinking grandmother got to see her before I did! I'm not sure what I would choose if I had to decide again. Anyways you will be VERY sore the next several days afterwards & the hospitol won't let you leave until you make a bowel movement-not sure EXACTLY why. but it will be scary & it will not feel good, but coughing is WAY worse! I though I was going to rip open in that hospitol bed when I coughed & I had a morphine IV in-wow it hurt. Congratulations & best wishes on having your little baby girl, I'm sure that all the pain your going to go through will be worth it to you. Because it sure was worth it for my baby girl. Good luck & make her daddy take care of you while your healing & taking care of her if you can.

Get a good night's rest, even if you have trouble sleeping. Spend time with your husband, children, or whomever will be neglected once the baby starts taking up all your time. Arrange for somebody to help you out with the housework while you are in the hospital and for a week or two after you get home. Keep positive thoughts, that will make everything go much better. Pray, if you are a religious person. God will be with you, whether you believe so or not. Bless you!

Don't be surprised at the possible anethesia side effects. Mine caused extreme shivering/shaking. I had 4 shots of muscle relaxant before it calmed down enough for me to hold my baby without fear of dropping him.
Don't feel bad for making your friends and family wait in the hall forever while you meet your baby in the recovery room. I made them wait until I was good and ready (and had nursed him once) before I let any of them in.
Rooming-in at the hospital may sound good in theory, but you'll need that sleep to help yourself heal after the section. Put the baby in the nursury, even if you think it'll make you look like a bad mom. It doesn't.
Don't worry about packing a nightgown or lots of old underwear. You'll probably just wear the hospital gown, and they (at least mine did) give you these funny little mesh panties to wear. And these humongous pads.
Make sure you have someone to help you for about two weeks after. It's hard enough to take care of a baby, but it's near impossible when you can't hardly get out of a chair on your own, or pick the baby up out of his bed without pain.
Oh, and most of all, they make you wear these support hose, to help keep blood from clotting in your legs. These things itch like crazy! And they won't let you take them off until you're able to walk. A few hours after my section, I got up and walked up and down the hallway. Just to be allowed to get rid of those hose!
Congratulations on your impending delivery, and good luck with the section. It'll go great!

If your doctor gives you a binder to wear after your section, WEAR IT!!!
Also, when you get home from the hospital, if you have a recliner, use it to sleep in. You won't be able to get in and out of bed (at least, not with a great deal of pain) for a few weeks.
Congrats on your soon-to-be-born little one!

i had to have a c-section and let me tell you that i thought it was a blessing...i didn't have to wait to see my child...no pains of labor...
i did get some stretch marks from it, but then i don't have the bikini body anyway, so it doesn't matter!!! lol
the scar of where they stitch you up is way below the panty line and pretty much disappears after a while...
recovering from it wasn't really too hard...they keep you on meds and stuff...
my baby didn't get that cone-shaped head that other babies do when u push em out...
oh! your baby will probably have lots and lots of gas b/c you didn't push her out, so the gas wasn't pushed out with her...so probably about 3-4 weeks in, if she starts to act colliky, get her mylicon gas drops and give them to her...make sure you burp her more often than other babies...if you're breastfeeding her, burp her between boobies...
she'll probably spit up a little more than usual b/c of all the gas in her...so carry extra clothes with you...
good luck and count yourself lucky that you get to have your baby so quickly!!!

Congratulations!!! Remember to put nursing pads in your overnight bag, you'll need 'em, and for some reason that was one of the only things I didn't think of when I went to the hospital.
Good luck!
