Typically, vaginal yeast infections present with thick, cottage cheese like discharge. Most women experience intense itching and sometimes a burning sensation. Swelling is common from the resulting scratching that occurs.

Yeast infections are very common and women can also have them without knowing. Yeast infections occur from a disturbance in the natural flora of the vagina (the normal bacteria is changed, which allows the yeast to grow like mad) Antibiotics are known for causing yeast infections to occur because the antibiotics kill off the good bacteria and not the yeast, which is a fungus, has an opportunity to flourish. Hormonal changes can also cause yeast to grow and non cotton underwear/ tight clothing as it doesn't allow for air circulation.

There are many over-the-counter remedies that women can use to treat the infection, like Monistat. However, if a woman is not sure what the infection is, she should see her physician to make sure it's not another type of infection, that won't be cured by an over-the-counter remedy.

Hope this answers your question! Have a great day :)

SYMPTOMS OF YEAST INFECTIONS

A doctor can tell for sure if you have a yeast infection by taking a swab and looking in a microscope. Most of us can't do this at home, but sometimes you can tell by the feel, look, and smell that you have a yeast infection. If your symptoms don't match this list, or you are confused or uncertain, go see a doctor if at all possible.

consulting a doctor is definitely needed, if you want to if you have yeast infection. Most of us can't afford to consult one. Our senses can tell us if you are infected and most importantly read the list for extra details.

FEEL
- If there's an intense itching, burning sensation in your vagina and vulva. This itching is not always present, but can get really bad, so bad you can hardly walk.

LOOK
- If there's a clumpy white stuff. Some people compare the discharge to ricotta cheese, but it can range from thick and not clumpy to faintly yellow to thin and clear color.

SMELL
- smells like bread or beer. In fact, it smells pretty much exactly like yeast, although the yeast used in brewing and baking is an entirely different species (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). No bacteria could smell like that, so it's a great analysis.

Let me share. when I was in a middle of reading yeast infection. I noticed how important is http://candidaquestions.probacto.com/ for this matter. I hope I was able to help you.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

I used to get them a lot around my period. It has to do with horomone changes. You can also get them from wearing wet swimwear for too long or if you are taking any antibiotics.

Yeast infections suck and you can tell if you have one cas it will jsut be itching and burning and uncomfortable.

To get rid of them get some cream inserts and put one in each night for a week. Also, don't have sexual intercourse while treating the yeast infection.

itching, foul smelling vaginal discharge, pain. Sexually active women tend to get yeast infections more. See a doctor and don't buy something over the counter. It could be something worse than a yeast infection and it is always better to play it safe.
