I visit the southern states often and on a few occassions, I've seen flags that resemble the Confederate flag. What's the deal with them? Why would someone want to fly a Confederate flag??

No, I haven't seen Dukes of Hazzard and I don't care to watch it.

Actually, "I AM THE DECIDER" I read "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and I am fully aware of the slave trade in the North.
I am merely asking what are people's reasons for flying a Confederate flag.

National flags are those that identify a nation. These flags are very important and a matter of great pride for the citizens of the country represented by the flag. The Southern States, proud to be american, are also proud of they Southern Heritage, and the Confederate flag is the symbol of this heritage.
We can deny that the confederate flag have also become a political tool used by many organization whose philosophies are opposed to the US, but for the vast majority of Southern Americans, however, Southern flags are the beloved symbols of a fallen nation, the Confederate States of America and a symbol of the Southern Heritage: you have two love in your heart your country and your heritage, and you are proud to be an American and Southern..

Have you not seen Dukes of Hazzard?
they have a big confederate flag on the roof of the General Lee!!!
the southern states, under the confederate flag, started the civil war, against the northern states, under the american flag.
you do know what the civil war was all about, I hope?

I had four great great grandfathers who fought in the Civil War. I'm proud of them and of my Southern heritage. I am also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I display the Stars and Bars and the Battle Flag with pride.

I know some people just like the flag, not for representational reasons, but just for the way it looks. Some people that have the flag, or have even seen it do not know the true meaning or representation it places. Other than that, some may still have other reasons.

i'm a Northerner. The accomplice flag is component to the history of the South. and that i believe them, that in case you do no longer like it, get out. this is been became into an emblem of racism via people who do no longer like it. in case you do no longer like it, then have Congress bypass a regulation, like Germany did after WWII, that bans the show of the flag (in Germany's case, the Nazi flag) in case you have faith it is going to likely be banned, i can't stop you. it quite is your good as an American Citizen.

I love it! Another anti-confederate flag ignoramus. You're probably one of those idiots who thinks that there weren't any slaves in the north, aren't you :D

Which flag? I 'm assuming you mean the "Stars and Bars", the battle flag.
You'll have to ask the folks that are flying them.

Because it is part of their heritage. The same as someone wearing a MLK shirt or Malcom X shirt.

They are ticked off cause they lost the war.
Actually, they say it's "Southern pride" but the blacks around here think it's racist and I agree completely.
