In 1948, most of the non-Jewish indigenous people were ethnically cleansed from the part of Palestine which became Israel. This action was carefully planned. Without it, no state with a Jewish majority and character would have been possible. Since 1948, the "Israeli Arabs," those Palestinians who avoided expulsion, have suffered continuous discrimination. Indeed, many have been internally displaced, ostensibly for "security reasons," but really to acquire their lands for Jews.

buzz95814 - Actually I do know what I am talking about, far more than your pal David Horowitz does. Dear David, such a smart guy when he was a Stalinist writing for Ramparts back in the 60's, and like all good Stalinists he can flip flop over to the Right wing with relative ease, now just as fanatical as he was back then, just on the other side. Educate yourself, if you are citing frotnpagemag.org you need some serious intellectual help. Don't bother answering with such nonsense, it is about as accurate as the National Enquirer, and I hate to tell you Brad Pitt is not the satanic love child of aliens pal.
Go get Godless and rapture on off of my questions.

Your history leaves a lot out. When Palestine was partitioned, no other Arab countries would accept the partition, and immediately went to war with Israel. Had these countries accepted the existence of Israel, the Jewish state would most likely have accepted much less land than the current state. Also, while Israel did expel some Arabs, it never attempted to expel them all, and even today, about a million Arabs live peacefully within Israel (and I'm not talking about the occupied West Bank, or Gaza, I'm talking about Israel). All the surrounding Arab countries, on the other hand, deliberately exacerbated the refugee problem by refusing to re-settle Arabs from Palestine, and none of them are exactly very hospitable to Jews.

This statement is a typical lie promulgated by haters of the State of Israel, and the Jews.
Most of the Arabs of Israel left when they found out that the surrounding Arab countries were going to invade. This is a pretty common occurence when a country is going to be invaded. There is documented evidence that the Arabs of Israel were actually encouraged to flee before the war by the governments of the invading countries.
There is no doubt also that in some areas Arabs were forcibly evicted. However, for the most part, those Arabs that stayed in Israel kept their homes and lands.
If you want to speak of ethnic cleansing, just listen to the propaganda and pronouncements of the Arabs about Israel over the years. They have clearly stated their intent to destroy Israel and wipe out the Jews.

Where does this propaganda come from? Nevermind, I can guess. In 1948, before the creation of Israel, people from all over the Arab world flooded the region in an attempt to "squat" the land before the Jews arrived. Never before in history had there been a nation of Palestine. Their attempt failed, and most were deported back to their native lands. Many of those who stayed and helped to build Israel are happy, well-paid, and pillars of the community. Notice that Israel doesn't launch strikes unprovoked. Leave them alone, and you'll be just fine.

Interesting story, but far from the truth. The so-called Palestinians left of their own accord so that they could join forces with those attacking the new State of Israel. There have always been non-Jews in Israels and they have been part of the government from day one. The act of terror at Israel's birth was a creation of the Palestinians, and there are many who believe that all who joined in it surrendered their 'right of return'.

I think you bring up valid points that people need to take into consideration. Most people dont know this History nor do they know about certain things such as the attack of the USS liberty in which Israili fighter planes attacked an american Naval carrier back in 1967.Whats funny is that all hatred is bad why is it that people try to make it look as though anti-sematism is the Worst?
Anyways keep up the good work informing people of truths.

You are absolutely right. And, not only in 1948. Moses led his people to the promised land. After forty years of waiting for a generation of people to die in the house of Israel, Jacob took them across, into the land of milk and honey, and commenced to killing all of the inheritance so that the land could be theirs. The only difference today is the Jews are at war with their cousins, all of whom are descended from Abraham, so they say.

If you call the Holocaust an act of terror it did.
I just don't understand why they had to give them the Holy Land. That was probably the worst decision made in the last million years.
