The drain is under the concrete floor and does not seem to go down very far. why would this happen?

you need to have a snake run through it to find the blockage.
Call a plumber or rent one yourself and run it down there.

Your underground pipes busted. You need to get a plumber ASAP or you will end up with some serious foundation problems. Maybe your insurance will cover it, but your ins will go up in premium. Not to mention the deductible.. Still, is better than having foundation problems and don't forget about mole... You really need help!

Do you have a sump-pump in there? You may have a clog down the line. The sump pump is there to prevent your basement from flooding and should be in the bottom of that hole.

there might be a plugg in the main line and if thats the case youll need to snake the whole drainedge system

your sewer line is getting stopped up somewhere. Get it looked at fast or you will have a large mess.
