Because in a true debate liberals cannot win using their own arguments. They have learned that the only way they can win is to subjugate their opponent's voice. "Political correctness" is a way for libs to censor their opposition on a mass scale.

I'm a british liberal democrat and i have to admit that political correctness is rubbish. There are some things which should be stopped like racist comments but we are now being told that we can't sing christmas carols because it may be considered offensive to non christians. I'm an atheist but even i say thats rediculous, this country was founded as a christian country and as far i'm aware it still is.

Ahh...some people get the idea of the "Liberal Thought Police"...in all actuality there are many people who believe strongly in freedom of speech, yet find grounds for restrictions in it. For example, I am a liberal, I believe in freedom of expression and the right to express an opinion, but I DONT believe that Neo-Nazis should be able to march around spreading hate, and I definetly don't believe people like Fred Phelps should protest at funerals pushing their radical anti-gay agenda. I think racism and hate are things that no one should have to listen to personally. I guess that makes me a hypocrite, but I'm proud to be so.

Because they want control, of everything especially of the conversation, that way they can lie and (they think) get away with lying thus keeping control. They also think if they say something over and over and over and over again that people will believe that what they are saying (I mean lying about) is (NOT) true.And sadly because alot of people don't know better they believe what the liberal media runs on air over and over again just because it is aired so much, it just like brainwashing.

well I'm no liberal, but I do believe trying to get people to call a man-hole a person-hole is ridiculous, but it is nowhere near as bad as the neocons successfully creating "free speech zones" restricting the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech to specific small areas.
