it takes about 6 months. You should get some sea salt and water and put in cup and make like a suction cup over it and will take care of any redness or pain.

About a year is what my piercer told me when I had mine done. Here's what I just looked up:

"The piercing must be cleaned twice daily, clothing must have a waist band that is well below the navel, can not sleep on your stomach, cross contamination prevention and no swimming. Average healing time is 6-12 months."

Of course healing time may vary per person and how well you take care of it.

i just got mine pierced about 2 months ago and they told me 9 months untill its fully healed and can change the ring.
