The umbilical cord isn't cut from the navel. It is cut a few inches above the navel and is pinched off near the navel. The remaining umbilical cord will wither away and fall of in a few days. The remaining portion of the cord is taken to the lab and tested, then thrown away. Good Luck

All depends on whether or not eh parents are in a cord blood program or not. Other wise its medical waste, probably burned in the basement or something, don'y know didn't ask that before they gave me my newborn LOL

Usually gets thrown out, but it can be saved for cord-blood that can be used to cure certain illnesses/diseases in the future of the child. Costs to store it properly.

The placenta is delivered and disguarded as medical waste unless the mother wants to keep it. Many mothers keep it to cook and eat, believing it helps them recover from the delivery. I've attached a link to a recipe if you'd like to try it

they keep it. it contains a great number of "celulas tronco" (don't know the word in english) which can become into other types of cells and provide cure to lots of illness like cancer

If there is anything wrong with the child, then it is sent to pathology. Otherwise it is incinerated with the other stuff.

they dry it out and then grind it up really fine add some color and sweetener and sell it, maybe you have heard of it....the call them pixie sticks.
