St Georges day!
Everyone else has a day off on their parton saints day so we should. It's to celebrate our nation and it's culture not just an excuse to take a day off.

I think we should all (the whole of Britain) take the 'Union Day', when the UK came into being, as a national holiday too..... and invent NATIONAL PIE DAY (in july, when it's sunny)!!!!

In a word Yes. Wales should have St David's Day, England should have St George's Day, & Scotland Should have St Andrew's day as a public holiday. I Think only Ireland have their Saint's day as a public holiday. Here in Wales we celebrate St David's day enthusiasticly. The girls always wear their Welsh costumes. The boys usually wear Welsh rugby jerseys!, But in Wales we are proud of our Patron Saint (March 1st). As I am sure are Enland & Scotland. So Let's go for it....write to your MP's to bring the matter up in Parliment....Let's all be proud of where we come from! (Oh look, I've turned all political now!!!!)

Workers in Britain should be allowed to work as many hours as they wish, but to keep family values the first of every month should be a bank holiday and you should not be allowed to work more than one bank holiday in every two. So employers will not abuse it, people working a bank holiday should be entitled to double time and an extra days holiday. This way people can work as long as they want but get decent time with their families

I think there should be a couple more public holidays in sept/oct time, just to balance up the glut of holidays in May/July and August. Bank Holidays shouldn't really matter too much, as they're mostly unobserved now anways

Yes, maybe around autumn and winter time..... we seem to have loads in a short space of time in the spring & summer, then it feels like ages til the next one!

I wouldn't mind not having to work my birthday every year! Tho not sure it would go down well as a public holiday lol

I have only one question for those of you who live in the UK: what will you do when the UK becomes a Muslim nation? I suspect that may be a more vital question than more bank holidays, etc.

yes 1 or 2 more

We do not have anything around October November time so then would sound sensible but I can't think of any reason around those months
