after reading your answers, this is my respond:

Okay, we all know it started with Hezbollah kiddnapping Israels, but don't you think it was all just a game and US & Iran just wanted to find a way to start a war and "kill themselves" and innocent people. I don't think we should agree with all news tells us every day. These govenments are playing with us. I feel we should think the other side of a news when we hear them!!!

somebody with the name of RJ said that he or she hopes for "a revolution by young people in Iran...". I would say that could happen one day. from my view, most of the citizens in Iran don't like the rules there!!!

I believe the reason for the war is because Israel wants to cripple the Lebanon military as much as possible. The abduction of one of their soldier just means that Hezbollah is getting a little, "Out of hand," in an Israeli persepctive. Because of Israel's fairly small population and landmass, Israel believes that a full scale strike on them will destroy Israel. Therefore, Israel cripples the other nations military as much as possible. Any agression towards Israel is a red flag for them. It means that the morale in that nation is high, and that they actually have the funds to support an attack.

By invading Lebanon, Israel believes that it will first, cripple Lebanon's military (so things like the six day war doesn't happen again). Also, by hitting air ports and such, Israel believes that this will break civilian morale. By making them as miserable as possible, it extinguishes the hope of victory. From there, the population will give Israel it's demands, along with the overthrow of Hezbollah.

I don't believe Syria or Iran will help in any case. While America believes that Israel has the, "Justified self-defence act," many Middle Eastern countries believe that Israel is exercising its agression. Many believe that Israel is over reacting with the kidnapping of a soldier.

However, Israel is right about it not trading prisoners. Israel does NOT want ANY hope of a successful attack on their soil. By trading prisoners, it gives the other side an incentive to kidnap more. However, by invading it shows them the dire concequences of kidnapping soldiers. Hopefully so they don't do it again.

This can be seen in the return of a German Journalist in the Iraq war. He was released, because the German Prime Minister ignored the loss of the journalist. The terrorists get nothing out of kidnapping a German Journalist. Israel believes that the same will happen. Except instead of nothing happening, a pile of bricks will fall on you.

Right now, I believe that this is the only reason why Israel is pushing with the war. Already, Lebanon will not be able to mount a successful attack on Israel due to the bombing of infrastructure. However, Israel wants to make it so Lebanon will have no intention...and know the concequences of...attacking an Israeli.

As for Syria and Iran, they're not going to get into the fray. They don't want their infrastructure blown to bits (especially Iran because they're starting a nuclear program). The most intervention I can see is a peacekeeping force stationed near the boarder while missles fly overhead.

Lebanon ceased to be a functioning country in the 1970s when the civil war started. Today, the ersatz Lebanese government can not or will not exercise sovereignty. The proof is that they permit what is effectively a foreign army on their soil in Hezbollah (an agent of Iran and Syria) even though that army operates independent of and counter to the wishes of the Lebanese people. As such, they are complicit with Hezbollah and are subject to attack.

The immediate cause of this war was a Hezbollah invasion of Israel across an internationally recognized boundary that resulted in the deaths of 8 Israeli soldiers and the kidnapping of 2 others, followed by over 2000 rockets fired at Israeli cities. At this point, I do not believe that Israel will stop until Hezbollah is effectively destroyed. But the one chance Hezbollah has is to stop shooting at Israel and return the kidnapped soldiers. That would go a long way to ending this crisis.

It has nothing to do with the US.

Lebanon refuses to deal with the millitant terrorist group named Hessbolah or however you spell it, so Israel is stepping in and trying ot put an end to it...
They fight in the first place because Muslim Militants hate the Jewish people in Israel. (and everywhere else for that matter.)
This civil war was inevitable and was in the long time coming. The trigger was the capture of two Israeli soldiers.. that was the straw that broke the camels back...

****update****
after reding your replies, I think you are determined to blame the US government and tie this in to it no matter what anyone says.. You say that people are just spouting what the news says..isn't that what you are doing? I for one don't watch much of the news..every station os biased to someone.. you can research the past history of israel and of Lebanon and come to some valid conclusions.
FYI.. Hezbollah is not a governmental agency.. they are a terrorist organization that has infiltratrated into all levels of Lebanese government... that's what israel is trying to get rid of.. the terrorists...The problem comes in because Iran (supposedly) and Syria (proven) are the money backers to Hezbollah..
This is not a US issue.. YET... stop looking to blame the country you live in for the worlds problems... if you hate this country so much and you think they are so entrenced with these radicals move to Canada!

I do not think that the war will progress to Iran and or Syria Vs USA. nobody wants to be in the middle of another conflict or at least nobody that I know. Lebanon has nothing really to do with the conflict either as the aggression is towards Hezbollah, I know some are going to say that innocent Lebanese are being killed but that is due to Hezbollah hiding among them.

I don't know exactly what the problem is between Israel and Lebanon but I know that yes the US does support Israel. I believe that it had something to do with and Israely pilot or military man being taken by the lebanese. Israel warned them to let the man go and they never would. I have very good friends in Israel and they will take care of the problem. The Israely military won't take this crap that Lebanon is dishing out. Also just so you know It was the US that convinced Israel to pull out of Gaza. We support Israel but we also can see both sides and we agreed with Palestine on that issue. Any more questions just email me.

Yes as stated above. Hezbollah, who we have been told, is supported by iran. Now lebanon is taking an @ss whoopin' because they for what ever reason can't stop hezbollah from firing they're weapons at Israel from within the lebanese border. Apparently lebanon supports hezbollah terrorists too.

It has NOTHING to do with USA.... god!

Hezbollah kidnapped Israeli soldiers from inside Israel. Lebanon allows Hezbollah to operate there. That's about it.

Lebanon needs more chocolate and Israel wants to provide it as a mediator with bigger profit. Israel is also covering laundering banks and avoiding media coverage on their internal scandals with state intervention on phones, electricity, labor and industries. They seem pretty desperate to control their country while in Palestine we see people who are willing to work with no interference and fairly no display of their beliefs and language.
Truth is Israel want a national intifada.
