Either bend over and take it, or buy a cheap beater car that gets better gas milage. Get a job closer to work. Ask for more money. Quit your job so you don't have to go out at all. Wait, don't do that last one!

You really have no options except taking public transportation, buying and riding a bicycle, walking or find a job where you can work from home and only drive for the most basic necessities. You could also start a car pool with your co-workers and rotate vehicles, the car pool idea can also work with shopping and other times you need to get places like doctor appointments and other short trips.Another idea is to buy a vehicle that is very good on gas and get rid of the one you are driving now if it is a gas hog.Or if you can make the initial investment buy a hybrid or a electric vehicle, while the initial cost can be substantial with the rebates and tax credits you will get it kinda evens out.

Don't drive as much. There isn't much you can do about high gas except get a better mileage vehicle or don't drive as much.

The only way out of this high price fuel is get out of the burning business all together and switch to Hyrogen or Electric.

People talk about ethanol, biodiesel, diesel out of vegitable oil none of that is going to work because there is way too much fuel use to even put a dent into the amount of oil we use.

There are many things that can be done. It just take some effort on everyone's part. For starters, we need to depend less on cars and try to improve our mass transit systems across the USA(this means every mass transit system needs funding). Second, we need to utilize out alternative fuel sources on a commercial, national, and global scale. The resources are there. In fact, there are some places where people are making diesel from vegetable, corn, and peanut oils. Electric, solar, hybrids, even vegetable oil fuels are all out there. We just need to start using them, and promote them on a grand scale. This will bring down the cost for gasoline by making the oil companies compete for sales and using the alternative fuels regualrly may even eliminate the need for gasoline. As for the car dependency, that problem would involve making our cities and towns more accessible to reduce the need for cars and make them more bicycle, scooter, and walking friendly.

What we can do about it? - it's really open market, as long as there is a high demand for fuel, the price will keep rising.
It may go down or at least stop rising if we all pick our next car that is more economical. I mean, for example, if you are driving 3.4L Pontiac with 20 mpg, choose a 1.8L Corolla or similar with 30 mpg as your next car and if we all do the same, the demand for gas will decrease, and the gas prices may go down.

People are now starting to use used cooking oil. What you should do is go to a restaurant and ask for some. Im dead serious. Not kidding. Ive seen a commercial about it and ive read it in the news. They also say that its a lot cleaner than regular gasoline anyways.

Use an alternative fuel, move closer to work, drive less, walk more, get out your bicycle, work over the Internet. (telecommute)
There really isn't much we can do about it other than this.

Pay it and live with it. They know we have to have it and no one will give up driving so.... buy a bike or a horse. Bikes are cheaper, believe me, I have two horses!
