How do I make sure they have read or gone through with my letter?

They have people that do that for them. Its is a security measure and a time saver. So your chances of them opening your particular letter is slim and none. If you hear back from them in something other than a form letter consider yourself very lucky.

For politcians, if you know of a specific legislative assistant, mail the letter to the politcian c/o of the assistant. That will work and get you more than the standard form letter. Good luck.

It depends what celebrity or politician, when I was younger I sent a letter to Cal Ripken (baseball player) and he returned it and sent me autographs and baseball cards.

Don't put a white powder in your letter. The F.B.I. knows about Yahoo Answers.
