When you're in your car and you catch a whif of a bad or odd smell, why do you turn your radio down?

Like turning the radio down is supposed to help you identify what the smell is or where the smell is coming from... the human mind ceases to confuse me...

I would say you turn downt he radio so that your mind can concentrate on just the one thing. When the radio is turned up your mind is working between the radio and the smell. Turn the radio down and you don't hae the distraction of the sound. That way you can figure out who or what fumigated your car!

Because the smell might be coming from something in the car, like a car part. And car parts that aren't working right usually make noises.

Yes. That way I can hear if anything is wrong with my car so I can tell that it is the one making the smell.

but honestly i think maybe some of your senses work better when they are all not in use. ie, if your eyes are closed u might be able to hear better
