At this point you are probably stuck with the doctor you have. How many doctors would take on a woman who is 35 weeks pregnant? They don't know how (or if) you've taken care of yourself. It would be a huge liability for them.

I'm not quite sure what your issue is. If the doctor thought something was wrong he would have you induced now and not have you wait. It seems that he thinks you will make it to the end. But the comment about the baby being big isn't necessarily true. Many women think they are having big babies because they measure (fundal height) larger than their gestational date, then have normal sized babies. On the other hand, with my last two children I measured small, 2 weeks smaller than my gestational date. The doctors kept telling me the babies would be small and I told them they were wrong, I could just tell the babies were big. They even did ultrasounds and still kept telling me the babies would be small. The babies were 9lbs 1oz and 8lbs 6oz (2 weeks early for this one) so they were way off.

If you feel you need more information, call back and get another appointment. You should be going either every other week or every week by now so you will see him again soon and can ask him then what is going on. Don't be afraid to ask.

Best of luck!

Has your doctor always been this way? If so, why didn't you change docs? I would tell him how you feel. Patients have rights, so let the doctor know how you feel. Also, your due date could be incorrect, unless you have gone through IVF. So, talk to your doctor. Pregnancy should be a joyful time. Swelling and high blood pressure sometimes can be expected in pregnancy. Change docs if you need to, would be my advice.

yes. i am 35 weeks also. i had to change doctors because thay were telling me inaccurate info. they told me at my first appt. that i need to get about 5 tests(blood) done. i changed at 5 weeks. i love my new dr. and she is very caring and has children of her own. so she knows first hand what it is like. my first dr. was a 60 yr. old male.

It is very common to develop h-bp during pregnacy, also the swelling is common, especially in the last trimester. Hang in there, it's almost over.

If you're not happy bring a friend who is outspoken. If they are a nurse or medical person that is even better. Sometimes you need someone else there to support you and they'll listen to you.
