I have to take a 8 hour Bus travel with a 1 year old, stay overnight and return the next day. Please guide me with the list of things that i need to take with me(including the number of baby's dresses, towels etc) and the necessary preparations for the journey to be trouble free and enjoyable for both of us.

It's not as hard as everyone makes it sound. I took a three day (three days there, then three days back actually) trip with my daughter on the bus from California to Ohio and it went very smooth. I brought along a foam ice chest to store milk and juice, brought toys to entertain her and books to read to her. Also I brought snacks in a diaper bag. She was very well behaved on the bus and no one complained. In my carry on bag, I had extra onsies, pants and pj's. I just kept it simple to keep her comfortable too. Make sure if the bus stops for a lay over you get out with your child and let her stretch and look around. Letting my daughter look out the window helped too.

Why don't you think about the other people on the bus who will have to potentially listen to your child cry for 8 hours? I'd suggest a different, less public, mode of transportation. Babies were not made to withstand uncomfortable bus rides.
