Urban cocktail attire is sophisticated and simple all at once. A classy dress that isn't frumpy or hookerish should do the trick. You could go for a simple black dress that ends just below the knees and shows off your arms and shoulders. Calvin Klein, DKNY, etc. all do urban cocktail.

Have you ever seen "Desperate Housewives"? The character, Gabby, usually dresses "urban cocktail". Sophisticated, dressy sandals, something that would go well with a man in a sport jacket.

Think June Cleaver , Leave It To Beaver . Urban cocktail is a dress that isn't sequined and low cut , just touching the knees and really most of them are very comfortable .
