Is it for the same reason that people don't check for spelling or grammar errors in their questions??

Let me clarify - I'm not talking about opinion questions or questions that could have many different answers - I think Yahoo! Answers is a great place and I really enjoy reading many people's crazy or even vague questions. But here, I'm looking for your opinion - doesn't it bother you to have to wade through so many useless questions? I guess I'm stupid to ask, because now I'll have to wade through a cesspool of useless answers too. ;-)

I don't think that people are necessarily lazy when they search for answers to questions on this website. By asking a question here, you are able to efficiently pool many resources to find the best solution to a problem. That's not laziness, that's time management.

HOWEVER -- I agree with you that spelling errors are avoidable. So many people think they are being cute by using misspelled words and the latest chat room abbreviations. I personally think that it just makes a person come across as stupid.

Some questions on here are more subjective. Some people want an opinion on a problem, rather than an answer found through a search engine. This is also a more personal feel to this, and some questions aren't necessarily answered best by research alone.

they're not lazy, just want attention and the control to pick Best Answer.there's a built in Check Spelling but not a grammar, capitalization or puntuaction check.the internet is suppose to be a casual forum.i don't actually mind random typing errors because i usually know what they mean.it's the uptight ones who point out every error.

*it's like on myspace.why allow the ugly people to join.i don't want to filter through all these uglies' photos.just let the hot people join to save time.the ugly and hot people combined is what makes the site popular and amusing.same concept with yahoo.if you don't have time to waste or find it mostly 'useless',check out another 'useful' site.

I have no idea. This bothers me too. GOGGLE, or ASK, or WIKIPEDIA.ORG solves a lot of these pesky questions.

I got "reported" for abuse because I told some guy who wanted quotes for his 2200 sq. ft. ranch-style house on rain gutters to find someone local. OMIGOSH, how can we answer that type of question? We don't know the local market, aren't licensed contractors, etc.

He reported me stating I didn't answer the question and I got dinged -9 points!

Hmmmm . . . what does get a bid from someone local mean?

People ARE very stoopid . . . err, I mean STUPID!!

They might enjoy the different answers that they get. Some people like to hear many viewpoints. Also, some people may be looking for a conversation of sorts.

I know what you mean, some are indeed lazy, it's bad when they even ask for answers to their homework questions!

By the looks of their atrocious spelling and grammar, they really need to do more of the work themselves.

Maybe some questions don't lend themselves to searches on the net, encyclopedias, or other reference sources. That would be the case with highly personal or highly abstract questions, or very complex ones (where a concise answer would be appreciated). But in those cases I would hardly label the people involved "lazy."

why shouldnt we be lazy? think about it..what reason is there? once you really get down to it you might as well just be lazy because it doesnt do anytyhing bad but annoy people..at least in the instance of spell check and finding answers

I wouldn't call people lazy! There are a number of reasons why people do what they do. My question to you is "Why are you so judgmental"? Lighten up or simply log off!
