I just moved to a new department and someone is reporting that my row of cubicles is too loud. I know that I am one of 4 offenders of this due to talking with my manager. However, I sit really close to several other departments that are louder tham me (sometimes I have to plug my ears just to think).I don't know why someone would complain everytime I talk. Help!!! PS, this is also important, the person who is complaining is only complaing when we talk about pregnancy (I am currently pregnant and the other offenders have recently had children). Why would someone continue to complain about this and what can I do to no longer be an offender?

Could be because the discussion isn't work related, yet is probably on company time. Or it could be the topic of having kids just hits a nerve (they can't, a kid died, etc). Just pipe down, keep the conversation closer to work related stuff, and save the pregnancy yakking for break time.

Get diagnosed with Voice Imodulation, then when someone complains after that, accuse them of discriminating against the handicapped.

I know it sounds like I'm trying to be funny, but I'm serious. I have a salival dysfunction so sometimes I need to bring a beverage in public places that don't allow outside drinks. I was diagnosed with this problem, and I carry a note from the doctor with me. When I run into problems I show them the note and they leave me alone.

Just stop talking so loud. Maybe you have a voice that carries. You're in a cubicle environment; I'd be ticked too. Not only that, but believe it or not, no one wants to listen to 4 women go on and on about their pregnancies. I doubt they're jealous, just extrememly annoyed.

Some people do not like when their co-workers talk about their personal life in the office, regardless if you talk loud or not. Just try to limit your discussions to professional level when you are at your cube. If you want to talk about something more private, you could take a walk or go for a coffee.

If you're like me, you probably just have a voice that carries more than others. My situation was different... as a teacher, I had teachers several classrooms down the hall that could hear me. I immediately recognized that I was doing more coaching (speaking louder than I really need to). I'd just tone it down... or better yet... e-mail!
