I look at homes I don't wish to buy for architectural ideas. of course I am honest enough to tell them that.

What is worse is after all the tire kickers are gone and soemone does make an offer, then the inspections come...then you really feel horrible, because for some reason people don't understand the term "used home" and want a brand new house, and you don't get anything more for the home, just a huge list of stuff that is wrong and has to be fixed. I am going through that right now. It is hell. It is also stuff that doesn't even effect the function of the home, like there are nail holes in the wall and a cracked brick. I am sick of it too.

How to combat the looky loo's. Ask them if they know of anyone interest in the price range especially neighbors. Ask the mr. nosy neighbor hey do have anyone in the family that would like to purchase this house I could work out a finders fee with you. Its just another avenue to get people to sell your home. Also give if you give them a flyer dont give one give two or three and ask them to post up at there office. Will it happen dunno? But at least they think they are involved in the transaction in someway. Somebody always knows somebody buying or selling a home. You will be amazed.

Well some people go in acting like they're going to buy the house but they are basically looking for ideas.. My neighbors are trying to sell their house, fully furnished, and have been for a few months and they're having no luck but the house is a Dream House, so I figure people just want ideas!

Some people just like to...I'm on Realtor.com all the time just looking. Why do you think builder's Parade of Homes get so many people. Suck it up, it's all part of having your house on the market.
Maybe have a talk with your realtor about getting more qualified people into the home.

i've sold my home before, and it was terrible! people want to see it, and they LOVE it, until it's time to make an offer. then they don't want to pay what it's worth.
i also work as a realtor, and you'd be AMAZED at how many nosy neighbors call and want to know what the house next door is listed for.

I went through the same thing. I had this guy come look at it and the whole time he was telling how he would like to move east from where I am.
