=) WORKS EVERY TIME: =)

Give her a small plastic cup to play with when she's in a playful mood... It takes the pressure off both of you for her to get the hang of holding and using a cup. Remember: Kids learn from playing! =)

At feedings, have a tippy cup on hand (use her favorite beverage, even if it's not a sweet one, even formula or breastmilk), and just sit it on her tray on the highchair. When she uses the tippy cup at feedings she'll get a pleasant surprise when there's a drink to be had! =)

She'll get the hang of it.... you don't see adults not able to drink from cups, right? =) It's not a big deal at her age.... right now is just getting her familiar with the object rather than using it, ya know? =) Best Wishes, Hon!

(Oh, and Sheena: I don't think she was looking for someone to frustrate her even further....Surely, being a parent, you can understand that sometimes it gets difficult, and it can be even MORE difficult asking for help....keep that in mind, dear.)

Try using a regular cup without the sippy lid. My daughter hated sippy cups, but loved drinking like a big girl! She will have to learn eventually, so why not try it? Try a small cup that she can grasp and hold on her own. Show her how it works, by you helping her. You don't want her to turn it upside down like a bottle, or she will choke and spill.

I eased my daughter onto the sippy by offering her a water bottle and a sippy cup of water at the same time... I let her play with it and try it out, even let her try feeding it to me, and eventually, she saw less and less of the botte during the day and now, at 23 months she only uses a water bottle to go to bed, and all sippy or even regualr cups during the day. Hope this helps ;)

Ha...my son was 6 months old when he used a sippy cup, three months when he held his own bottle.

Just take the bottles away--cold turkey. Just replace all the bottles with sippy cups and she'll hate it at first but she'll get used to it. It's just like anything else, she's outgrown the bottles and needs to be taken off of them.

Neither of my boys wanted to use a sippy cup. We bought the Nuk ones, and I think they're so used to drinking from a bottle with soft nipple that when they put the spout of the cup in their mouth, they didn't know what to do with it. They loved to chew on it, but not drink from it. :)

To get them to try, I took the stopper out and put a tiny bit of formula in the cup. I'd give it to them to hold, and turn it up for them so that the bit of formula was in it would run into their mouths without them having to suck on it. They very quickly learned to turn the cup up and something yummy would come out of it. :) Shortly after that, when they mastered picking the cup up and "drinking" from it, I put the stoppers back in them and started filling them with a normal amount of formula and they caught on pretty quick.
