the driver side window does not open, the window cable is broken, the electical parts are functioning

The only way I see is to put together the cable that is broken if the cable is made of other small cables they usually have colors so tie them up and see if the window works if it does not, you will have to take the window engine out and fix it but for these you are going to need to spend some money

Pimp your wife to your mechanic sorry am being a smart *** again you need a new regulator you will have to spend some money for a repacement part try a salvage yard to save money your local pick a part is a good place to start usaully its cheaper to go in and pull your parts then letting them do it
