I'm not talking about the war per se. I'm talking about fiscal responsibility. On the radio yesterday, I heard how billions of dollars have simply vanished due to the lack of accounting practices and justification. In fact, when Congress forced Bremmer to account for any outlays, they simply went to another slush fund which they didn't have to account for. How, can ANY conservative NOT be outraged by the waste and mismanagement we've seen with our tax dollars?

I'm "targetting" cons mainly becuase they preach fiscal conservatism and support Bush wholheartely on this. Yet, we do not hear any action being undertaken and few conservatives speak out on this.
btw- I'm a fiscal conservative.

$$$ I think we all should be outraged by the waste and corruption at All the levels of govt. .$$$$ Money money money makes the world go around (repeat ad nausium)
If the corporations, that control and have dumbed down the media
which dumbs down the people, won't tell us about it how can we get more people to pay attention.?..Many people I know just don't want to think about it. As in "I don't pay attention to politics because it would upset me too much" ....Actually that was what my dentist said. I thought it telling...
The thing is
the waste is so BIG and so enormous it's hard to grasp
How many of us understand the difference between billion and trillion?
and we have been made passive by the mind numbing banality of the boob tube... which should not be confused with YOU tube ... Oh! Heck... this topic is just too difficult to pay attention to for very long.
There is fiscal irresponsibility all over.
In Iowa there are scandals where a few execs gave themselves huge bonuses on top of their already inflated salaries, Ohio has it's own scandals, and other states too... And don't even get me started on La La Land california... Or the can't make us count em if we drop em in the swamp Fla....no . yes .
The list seems endless and I think that is part of why you don't see marching in the street. Actually there have been protest marches and other things but the "media" doesn't pick it up. I have called the TV stations and other local outlets for a few events that I was part of but None of them would cover it. Oops I'v typed so much the spell check is having problems...I hope Proof reading is good enough.
I'm begining to think it will take some thing, I don't know what but somethings gotta drop or give or ????

Because most conservatives are probably profiting one way or the other off an investment or holding that has direct or indirect dealing with the U.S. War Machine. And besides Conservatives are very good at taking care of their own first - Haliburton et al.
Waste and mismanagement you say! Perish the thought. Money is going everywhere this administration wants it to and especially where it does not want it to - Katrina anyone?
America's new way of life is 'If your poor you're in the war, if your wealthy you best stay healthy'. As for the American Dream, it will most likely be out your price range....forever!

For the same reasons democrats don't care how taxpayer money is spent and squandered.
Hurricane Katrina is an example of how mismanagement and wasteful spending can lead to devastating effects on US citizens. The US sends billions of dollars (since the late 1970's) to Middle Eastern Countries, and yet, can't spend or figure out how to protect it's citizens in the US from natural disasters. No administration (democrat or republican) has ever attempted to correct this problem. It is the nature of politics and bureaucracy.

We are mad at all waste. However, much more has been wasted on social programs over the last 70 years than a couple years of a war.
All true conservatives are very mad and disappointed at the Republicans' insane spending spree. However, it would be just as bad, if not worse, under Democrats, so we'll continue to vote for the lesser of two evils.

I am a fiscal conservative too. I am livid. I never voted for Bush. I don't like how he was anointed rater than elected. He was the worst Governor Texas ever had, I never understood why anyone thought he should be president. Bush will be the reason why the Republican party will be voted out of power.

Some of my republican friends are very concerned about the extreme spending of this administration. They've made the comment, "Why, that's not conservative at all". Many people are angry to know that Social Security would be stable for us of all ages if they hadn't been taking the money out of it for fighting in Iraq.

It's the same reason that "Ls" use for taking money from some people to give to others.
They think it's the correct thing to do.
