i hardly turn it off.....only when i install a new program or leaving for a really long time

It shouldn't hurt anything, if that's what you mean. Saves power to power it down completely of course, but standby is better than just leaving it on, at least.

The guy who built my last 3 computers told me it is better to just turn off the power to the monitor and leave the computer running all the time unless you need to restart it for something. The exception being, of course, if there is a really bad storm in your area and it is safer to turn it completely off until the storm passes.

it should be ok, but you might want to restart it every now and then just in case any automatic updates have dl'ed and installed themselves.
